In this How-to guide, I'll show you how to fit an umbrella ring to your outdoor tablecloth. This quick and simple method requires no sewing skills and takes only a few minutes to complete.

Equipment

To create the parasol ring, you will need:

1. The desired tablecloth of the correct size for your table. I used Natural Gingham check from our range of wipe clean tablecloths. To read our guide on how to measure your table for a tablecloth, click here.

2. A 40mm curtain eyelet ring. We used a stainless steel eyelet. Remember to check the diameter of the parasol ahead of purchasing.

3. Tape measure

4. Pencil

5. Scissors

Method.

1. Measure your tablecloth

Lay the tablecloth out on the table, ensuring the centre of the cloth falls over the hole at the centre of the table.

2. Trace the hole

Take your pencil and make a cross at the centre point on the cloth. Then, carefully trace around the inside of the hole to create a pencilled circle.

3. Cut the circle out

Pinch the centre of the circle and snip with your sharp scissors. Then, carefully cut out the traced circle.

4. Fit the ring.

Split the ring into two halves. Take one half and place it underneath the hole. Push the edges of the circle down and around the rim to create a snug fit. Take the second half and place over the top pressing firmly down into place.

5. Put into place

Place the ring over the top of the umbrella hole and then position the parasol into place.
